Academic Live Forum
Insolvency laws in the time of COVID-19: Australia & Singapore
Wednesday 27 May, 11.00 - 12.00 BST (GMT+1)
There are limited places for this interactive session
INSOL International is delighted to start its series of Academic Live Forums with Aurelio Gurrea-Martínez, Assistant Professor of Law at Singapore Management University and Jason Harris, Professor of Corporate Law at the University of Sydney Law School.
Despite our inability to meet in person, sharing knowledge and experience remains just as crucial as ever. This is an opportunity to hear expert views from academics about the specific local implications of Covid-19 in their jurisdictions. The session promises to provide both learning and provoke conversation.
This Live Forum will focus on two important jurisdictions, Australia and Singapore. We will discuss the Australian decision to suspend creditor enforcement and insolvent trading laws, as well as the changes to Australian corporate law aimed at assisting companies during the pandemic, such as online meetings and amended reporting obligations. We will also consider Insolvency reforms that have taken place in Singapore as a response to the crisis, including insights into the role and limits of Singaporean insolvency law during and after COVID, including how Singapore has performed compared to other jurisdictions.
